Tightening the nut to the correct torque for each pipe size, the ogive shifts to rest against the fitting body's end, pushing the O-ring into its sealing seat. Under the nut's tightening effect, the ogive deforms, marking the external diameter of the pipe at the AST groove and deforming the pipe to snugly fit against the AST groove's diameter.
